Hand-thrown stoneware serving bowl with subtle ridges on the exterior surface to allow variations in pooling of the glaze. This piece has a one off hue, due to the precious elements and compounds deposited from the glaze. This unique vessel has been wheel thrown, trimmed, hand finished, fired in a kiln, dip glazed, and fired for a second time. Due to the nature of all handmade ceramics, each piece is distinctively its own, and there will be slight variations in shape and finish and there may be slight imperfections. This piece has a beautiful pooling of the glaze at the bottom of the piece, both inside and outside the vessel, highlighting the dynamic flowing nature of this glaze type, and creating a rare effect.
Hand made using artisanal techniques, this earthy stoneware clay as well as the glossy glazed surface is both artwork on it's own, or stunning vessel to hold your salad, vegetable or meat dish, or any delicious accompaniment.
Please notice the variance in appearance of the glaze across the body of this vessel. There are cracks in the internal glaze surface - this is not a fault - but merely a sign of different shrinkage rates of the clay body underneath the glazed surface. This feature enhances the attractiveness of the piece and remains food safe.
