Hand-thrown stoneware butter bell in two pieces which slot together. Each vessel has been wheel thrown, trimmed, hand finished, fired in a kiln, glazed, and fired for a second time. Due to the nature of all handmade ceramics, each piece is distinctively its own, and there will be slight variations in shape and finish and there may be slight imperfections.
Each piece has a unique, highly-textured exterior surface, created by the granular-particles within the clay becoming more pronounced as it is fired to almost 1300 degrees. The internal surfaces that contact the butter and water are glazed in a beautiful glossy glaze, that creates a distinctive mottled appearance as it melts over the textured clay.
These pieces are entirely hand made using artisanal techniques, the surface feels earthy to hold, and looks stunning in any kitchen.
